TimeTracker v.2 (beta), with Java (13.0 mb)

Note: If you don't have the Java Virtual Machine installed on your machine already you will need to download the Smart Time Tracker application with Java.

Application Overview

The Smart Time Tracker application is an application which will allow you to monitor your time in an efficient and effective manner. It is never easy or fun to track your time and document the activities which you completed or worked on during a certain time interval. The Smart Time Tracker is being developed to make it as easy as possible for people to track their time. It should allow users to focus more on completing activities in a certain time interval rather than worry about documenting what they worked on.

The Smart Time Tracker application is Java-based which will make it easier to take the application to multiple platforms easily from a development standpoint, including cell phones and PDAs. However, since the application was coded in Java it will require a larger download and will require a machine with larger memory (RAM). It is recommended you use the Smart Time Tracker application on a machine that has at least 96MB of RAM.

Installation Instructions

After you have downloaded the Smart Time Tracker application, run the .exe file which you have downloaded. This will walk you through the steps to install the application.

Use of Application

Once you have installed the Smart Time Tracker application on your computer you can start adding your projects within the application. After you have added a project you can then start tracking your time for that project.

Your time for each project is broken down into different sessions and activities. Sessions and activities are structured as such:

.Project 1
...Session 1
......Activity 1
......Activity 2
......Activity 3
...Session 2
......Activity 1
......Activity 2

A session is the time which you have started and ended a clock. During a session you can pause and unpause the clock. The pause time during a session will not count towards the time you have worked during that session.

Sessions have activities under them. You can break up a session in to any number of activities which you want. As well you can rename sessions and activities to make them more informative for you when you are reviewing your time.

.Books Inc M&A
...Web Research
......IBM
......Cisco
......Apple
...Phone Calls
......IBM
......Steve

Text can be added to projects, sessions, and activities. This is where you can document what was done during that project, session or activity. If you using the application efficiently you can actually enter the text while you are working rather than at the end of the session.

Here is a sample of how someone can use the application:
